Album Launch and Film Screening from Ruby Colley at Project Art Works.
About this Event

"The sound artist Ruby Colley, whose brother is non-speaking, has created a touching reminder that people can express themselves in other ways"

- The Guardian

Come and celebrate the launch of Hello Halo, with the screening of a documentary (Film by Rod Morris of Roadfactory Films) that gives insight into the making of hello halo, along with a listening party of the full album, followed by a Q&A.

Paintings that are connected to the project Hello Halo by Paul Colley & the late John Cole (co founder of Project Art Works) will be on display.

Doors will open at 19.00 and the film will start at 19.30. This event is free but ticketed due to limited space.

On November 14th, 2025, , the violinist, composer, and sound artist whose work spans genres from classical, to folk, sound art, and film, announces Hello Halo via New Amsterdam Records. Hello Halo was written for and performed by vocal ensemble EXAUDI and Ruby Colley on Violin.

Hello Halo is a composition that was developed alongside Paul Colley, Ruby’s brother, who is neurodivergent and non-verbal. Despite being termed "non-verbal," Paul uses a rich repertoire of sounds and gestures to communicate. Colley transcribed these communication methods, using live voice and recordings of Paul, to make a vocal map of his life and relationships. Colley explains: “Hello Halo is an intimate examination of communication, both subtle and nuanced, that asks questions of what it means to be human.”

This piece is both an archival snapshot of Paul's life and relationships and a metanarrative, collaborative effort growing out of these connections into the sphere of a moving artistic statement..

The album artwork was created by Paul Colley as he keeps an active visual art practice which can be explored via Project Art Works.

Project Art Works offers level access throughout and is suitable for wheelchair users.

We have allowed time in the programme for the audience to arrive and feel comfortable in the space.

A relaxed screening is where people can watch a film in a relaxed environment. They are different from regular film screenings because:
- the lights are low instead of completely off, so you can still see where you're going
- the volume is a little lower than a standard screening
- you can move around the cinema freely as you wish during the screening
- you can leave the cinema room during the screening and return without having to worry
- you can make noise, stim, and enjoy yourself
- there is a friendly atmosphere
- there are people around if you need any help
