Hello Cello! A playful exploration of sound and movement

An exciting afternoon of moving to live cello while it plays to you.
About this Event

Join Bela Emerson and their cello, Lily V, for a semi-structured exploration of improvised music/sound, and dance/movement. An opportunity to release your thoughts, drop into your senses, and let your body lead your movement.

The intentions for the session are:

  • being curious about sound and movement
  • focusing on listening
  • self-attunement - how does the music make you feel?

The session is for anyone aged 16+ - you don't need to be a confident dancer, and no-one will make you do anything you don't want to do. The emphasis is on nervous system regulation and wellbeing, through a gentle invitation to creativity.

Tickets are offered on a donation basis - if you feel you would benefit from / enjoy the session and finances are tight, please make a donation (£5 suggested donation) instead of buying a ticket.
This workshop builds on Bela's 11-year professional community music practice, as well as her experience of playing / moving for and with Contact Improvisation and 5 Rhythms (Arts Council England -funded 2023-24), and 20+ years of professional performing with Lily V, electric cello, and an array of guitar pedals.
Hello Cello! is part-funded by Arts Council England.
