Helene Moved Mountains Understanding WNC’s landslide and flood risk with YouTube-famous Geologist Philip Prince, Ph.D.
Hosted by the French Broad River Partnership
✅ Free Event, Space is limited, Register Now!
Join us as we explore how geology shapes the beauty, recreation, and ecology of the French Broad basin — and how those same natural systems influence flooding, landslides, and risk.
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, our mountains and rivers have changed — and so have we. Join us for a free evening of learning, reflection, and community connection with Dr. Philip Prince—geologist, educator, and creator of the popular YouTube channel @TheGeoModels. Dr. Prince’s videos have inspired millions of viewers to see the world beneath their feet in a whole new way and were especially impactful to many grappling to understand the devastation of Helene. In this special lecture, Philip will bring the ancient stories of the French Broad River basin to life— explaining how the mountains, rivers, and valleys that inspire us also hold the clues to keeping our families and neighbors safe. As we look toward recovery and resilience, gaining a deeper understanding of our landscape’s geologic history is vital to planning for a more resilient future.
✨Don’t miss out on raffle prizes, climate resiliency info and data tools, free stickers and swag, and cool merch from our FBRP members!
