Yoga and mindfulness techniques are increasingly being used in schools and therapy settings to support children and teens in managing stress, processing emotions and developing healthy coping skills. These practices can be especially helpful for young people experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression, but are also highly effective for any tween or teen learning how to recognize and respond to their emotions, build self-awareness and feel more at home in themselves. This workshop offers a calm, nurturing environment where children ages 11-16 can rest, reset and explore tools that support their mental and emotional well-being.In this 60-minute restorative yoga class, students will be guided through restful yoga poses (asana), fully supported using bolsters, blankets and blocks to create a feeling of being completely held and able to let go. Calming breathwork (pranayama) and simple mindfulness practices (like body scanning and meditation) will help soothe their nervous system. They’ll be invited to notice how emotions feel in their bodies and learn gentle ways to release tension and process feelings.
By the end of the class, tweens and teens will walk away with a toolkit of practices they can use anytime they feel overwhelmed, disconnected or stuck in big emotions. This class is trauma-sensitive, beginner-friendly and designed for all emotional states. Parents or caregivers are welcome to accompany their child if preferred. Comfortable clothing is recommended, whether it’s sweats, jammies or whatever makes them feel most at home. Register now to reserve their spot and give your tween or teen a space to breathe, feel and build inner strength.
