About this Event
Explore the Polynesian Islands of French Polynesia, Hawaii, New Zealand and More. Visit island food vendors - shrimp rice plates, poke, and shaved ice. Learn arts & crafts from leis and jewelry making, tahitian drums, and weaved baskets! Support local retail vendors and sponsors. Entertainment will include an island music DJ and a series of musical guests and dance performances, an introduction to a Tahitian drumming class, and history exhibits.
The public will have the opportunity to participate in ancestral sports such as: Coconut Tree Climbing Races (Tauma Haʻari), Fruit Carrying Race (Timau Ra'au), Stone Lifting (Amora’a ‘Ōfa’i), & Beach Wrestling (Taputo). Participants must register separately.
Sign up for FREE dance classes and explore the art Polynesian dancing. Learn to Hula Dance and participate in the Tamure Marathon (Tahitian dance) that will have your hearts beating and you bodies moving to the island rhythms. Participants must register separately.
Simultaneously, the 2nd Annual Black Belt Paddler Challenge (Outrigger Canoe and other watercrafts) will take place at the rowing center, showcasing an exhilarating multi-craft paddling race inspired by the legendary competitions of Tahiti and Hawaii. Top athletes from around the world will vie for the coveted Black Belt Paddler Title, making this an unforgettable experience.
