Heirloom Photographs Preservation, Restoration, and Conservation Volunteers club (PRV). Focuses on sharing methods and techniques on archiving old photographs either from participants or the club's archive collection. Through archival techniques, non-destructive and reconstructive methods, learn to manually restore and conserve old photographs for display or storage with the inclusion of digital tools as well.
We will also learn to 'read' old photographs, with insights from the perspective of a traditional photography practise, understanding the circumstances of a photograph beyond it's visual narrative. From factual categories; dating the period, material, location, to the semiotics; purpose, and clues to reveal a deeper understanding behind the photograph and its portrayal.
For the first meet up, Jeffrey will present PRV's initiative, give an introduction to common materials of photographs, showcase several different methods of conservation practises, and approach to reading old heirloom photographs and more. We will open the discussion on the volunteer program and intention of the initiative.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own heirloom photographs for review and inspection (Free acid-free tissue paper packing for those who bring photographs *1 sheet per attendee while stock lasts). Signed-up volunteers will have access to archive, materials and tools for the preservation practice, more details to be discussed. Free-entry, donations are welcomed.
這是一個關心舊照片保存、修復與維護的志工小組交流會。這場交流會將分享保存舊照片的方法和技巧，這些老照片來自於小組的收藏，或者是參與者自身的照片。參與者將學習如何手動修復和保存舊照片，以供展示或存儲用途。參與者也會學習使用數位工具。
林猷進也會從傳統攝影的實踐出發，分享如何「解讀」舊照片，包括照片拍攝時所處的客觀背景（拍攝年代、材質、地點等等），以及拍攝者的動機，並且尋找線索，揭示照片的更深層意涵。
這是“舊照片維護志工小組”的首次會面，林猷進將介紹小組的倡議，介紹常見的照片材質、展示幾種不同的維護方法，以及如何解讀老舊的家族照片等等。我們會一同討論志工計畫和目標。
參與者歡迎攜帶舊照片來供檢查。活動免費提供無酸薄包裝紙給攜帶舊照片者，每人限領一張，送完即止。報名參與當志工者有機會使用舊照片檔案，以及用於保存工作的素材和工具。更多詳情待定。免費入場，歡迎樂捐。
