Registration for the Heineken Prizes 2022 Awards Ceremony will open from 8 September 2022.
During the live Award Ceremony, the outstanding achievements of the 2022 Heineken Prizes laureates and the 2022 Heineken Young Scientists will be honoured. We would like to introduce you to the people behind the prizes and show you how big the societal impact of their work is on our daily lives.
The programme will be hosted by Dr. Barry Fitzgerald. He will lead five talks between the ten laureates. They are linked in pairs on a theme that connects their work:
Our communication - Carolyn Bertozzi & Liesbeth van Vliet
Our cells - Vishva Dixit & Laura Kervezee
Our thoughts - Kia Nobre & Fleur Jongepier
Our environment - Sunil Amrith & Carl Folke
Our truth - Remy Jungerman & Jordi Tura i. Brugués
The conversations will be alternated with additional speakers and music performances.
Time: 5.30 – 8 p.m. (CEST) ceremony. From 8 p.m. onwards bites and drinks.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early.

About the host
Dr. Barry Fitzgerald is a superhero scientist, speaker, author of two popular science books, and enthusiastic science communicator. His research interests include particle processing, responsible innovation, science education, scientific outreach and communication, and superhero science. For the latter, Barry aims to identify the science and technology of today that could lead to superpowers tomorrow.

The Heineken Prizes are the Netherland’s most prestigious international science prizes and the country’s biggest visual art prize. The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) is responsible for the nomination and selection process. This year’s laureates are announced on the website of the Heineken prizes.
