Heidi Vogel (b. c. 1977) is one of the great British jazz and soul vocalists distinguished for her rich, expressive tone and genre-spanning versatility . She first came to prominence touring with Cirque du Soleil, which led to her joining The Cinematic Orchestra in 2006—becoming their lead singer on breakthrough albums like To Believe, Live at the Royal Albert Hall, and Late Night Tales . She has performed at major venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House, Walt Disney Hall, Montreux, Coachella, Glastonbury, and North Sea Jazz .In 2013, she released her debut solo album Turn Up the Quiet (Far Out Recordings), a heartfelt homage to Brazilian classics by Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes, and Gilberto Gil. Accompanied by guitarist Josué Ferreira and collaborating with Cleveland Watkiss, Austin Peralta, and Ivo Neame, the album earned great praise from Jazzwise, JazzTimes, Jamie Cullum, Benji B, and Osunlade .
Heidi has also recorded or toured with luminaries such as Chick Corea, Thundercat, Bobby McFerrin, Isaac Hayes, Soweto Kinch, and The Brand New Heavies . In 2019, she appeared as a guest soloist at the BBC Proms, performing Duke Ellington’s sacred music with Monty Alexander. Here she drew great acclaim for her amazing emotional depth . She continues to enchant audiences globally, from intimate jazz clubs to festival stages, firmly establishing herself as “one of the great jazz voices of modern times.”
