She will be releasing her new book of poetry, Verb Animate, just as she is completing her year as Minneapolis’ first Poet Laureate. A writer from North Dakota, who now calls Minnesota home, Erdrich's talents are many. She writes, teaches, & curates art exhibits. Heid is Ojibwe, enrolled at Turtle Lake Mountain.
