About this Event
The day you've all been waiting for! Join us for ‘Hedgentines Day’, a soon-to-be national holiday where we celebrate our love for hedges by creating new hedgerow corridors in our local landscapes.
Who is this for?
This event is for young people aged 18-30 years who want to make a difference by creating green spaces and restoring nature in Hampshire. No prior experience is necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and we’ll provide the tools and the learning.
What to expect:
We will be planting new hedging at a growing site in Romsey. Along the way, we’ll explain the role of hedgerows and how they can help us restore missing biodiversity in our landscapes. This event is a partnership project with CPRE Hampshire as part of CPRE’s Hedgerow Heroes project. Youngwilders will be the main points of contact and will be facilitating the day :)
Where we’ll be planting hedgerow:
We will be planting 200m of hedgerow at a growing site for a plant nursery.

Accessibility:
The site is flat with gravelled paths. There are two toilets available on site, and a small kitchen with access to electricity and hot water. Phone service is good.
There is a small lip to get to the loo. The planting site is not far from the parking area so could be accessed by a wheel chair as long as the ground is not too wet from very heavy rain. Terrain to the parking and where the bar and loos are is hard standing and then the planting site is grass.
Please note that the walk from the 66 bus stop is unfortunately not on pavement which will be difficult for a wheelchair user.
If you have any questions or concerns about accessibility, please do not hesitate to reach out to Layla ([email protected]), who would be more than happy to discuss this.
Travel Reimbursement
We can offer travel reimbursement, so if you can send us receipts or proof of travel payment and your bank details, we will reimburse you as soon as possible. Please send the reimbursement request to Molly at [email protected] with a PDF attachment.
