About this Event
Hello!
This is a weekend special!! - bring along your whole family and plant some hedgerows with us. Hedge planting does not require lots of physical strength and is striaghtfoward to learn. Ellie and Yolande, our Hedgerow Project Manager and Assistant Hedgerow Project Officer, will make sure that everyone knows how to plant and what to do. You are welcome to come for an hour, half a day or the whole day - please just let Ellie or Yolande know ([email protected] or [email protected]) so they can meet you.

Please help us to recruit volunteers by spreading the word of our project Volunteering - CPRE Hampshire. We will be running hedge planting sessions every Thursday, from 21st November until the end of March. In December, January, February and March we will be running one weekend day a month. Our hedge planting days will be across Romsey, Ampfield, Hursley and Copythorne. Please book on to our events so we have a rough idea how many plants to bring!
Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with us. Your help is hugely appreciated and key to the success of our work.

The Hampshire Hedge Project
This event is part of the wider Hampshire Hedge project, connecting up the New Forest and the South Downs National Parks with green corridor of hedgerows and wild spaces. Over a 3-year period (starting Autumn 2023) CPRE Hampshire will restore a network of 12 – 14 miles of hedgerows working with local communities, schools, landowners and farmers to manage existing hedgerows and plant new ones, connecting up copses and meadows along the way.
Hedgerows are an incredibly important landscape feature, forming the quintessential English countryside view, as well as important for much of our native wildlife, flood management and for the climate through carbon storage. We have lost half of our hedgerows since 1945 (lined up the loss of hedgerows amounts to a distance greater than the distance to the moon) and we are losing the skills to manage them well. For further information on getting involved in the project please contact our Assistant Hedgerow Project Officer, Yolande, at [email protected].
