Each Friday in October, we celebrate a different goddess of witchcraft by throwing a big party and making offerings!
Hecate is honored on October 18th with music by Mike Trombley. Dress to embody Hecate and bring any offerings you wish to place on our altar.
? Hecate is a goddess in ancient Greek religionand mythology, most often shown holding a pair of torches, a key, or snakes, or accompanied by dogs, and in later periods depicted as three-formed or triple-bodied. She is variously associated with crossroads, night, light, magic, protection from witchcraft, drugs, the Moon, graves, and ghosts.
? Regarding the nature of her cult, it has been remarked, "she is more at home on the fringes than in the centre of Greek polytheism. Intrinsically ambivalent and polymorphous, she straddles conventional boundaries and eludes definition."
? Mike Trombley began DJing in 1997 within the rare Detroit soul scene. Coming up in the world of record collectors, he was connected with some of the city’s most gifted DJs and musicians, who opened his eyes to a wealth of creative possibilities. Mike’s DJ skills and musical taste evolved organically. He has built an arsenal of (un)classics gleaned from the gold mines of dusty bins and dingy basements.
From Detroit to Los Angeles to Philadelphia and back to Detroit, Mike has honed his skills with successful DJ residencies and the launch of his own record shop. In 2009, Mike started Macho City, a queer party that harks back to the heady days of clubs like The Music Box (Chicago) and Paradise Garage (NYC).
He consistently delivers wide-ranging enthusiastic sets of disco, boogie, Italo, EBM, and acid. The countless hours he has spent digging define his sonic toolkit. ?
✨Cheers✨
