In this embodied and participatory evening, led by Eyal Rivlin and Michelle Wolf, we will dive in as a community into the ecstatic wellspring of chanting. Backed by some of Boulder’s top musicians and using ancient Hebrew melodies and mantras, we will build a sonic temple using our voices. No prior experience is needed to participate fully. Join the post-program social from 8:30 - 9 pm.About the Musicians
Though born in the blistering heat of Israel's Jordan Valley, Eyal Rivlin's heart seems to spring from Renaissance Europe. His passion for celebrating music, dance, psychology, and spiritual growth led him from the Tel Aviv music scene on a pilgrimage of discovery through Europe and India to the United States. Now, happily centered in Boulder, Colorado, Eyal inspires joy by teaching, performing, and facilitating events, playing with world fusion ensembles, and leading ecstatic song and dance evenings. With over 25 years of teaching experience, Eyal builds bridges between cultures through his open-hearted teaching style. While teaching extensively in the program in Jewish Studies at CU Boulder for the last ten years, Eyal’s students have described his teaching style as “inspiring, refreshing, accessible, creative and engaging.” He runs the annual Schmooze-a-Palooza Hebrew music festival at CU and brings to life the greatest hits of Israeli music.
Michelle Wolf, Ba’lat Tefilah (Master of Prayer), is a lifelong vocalist with experience in various genres: classical, jazz, a cappella, and liturgy. She feels most on-purpose when leading sacred prayer and chant, using her voice and presence to open hearts and lead others to connection with the Source. Michelle served Jewish Renewal Congregation Nevei Kodesh as cantor for 11 years alongside Rabbi Tirzah Firestone and, more recently, as a lead prayer service leader. Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi (z’’l) formally conferred the title Ba’alat Tefilah for her mastery as a Jewish liturgist. Michelle guides youth and families through B’nai Mitzvah rites of passage, teaches courses in spiritual intimacy, leads services for Shabbat and High Holidays, and creates customized rituals and spiritual experiences. Her CD releases include PrayerSongs with Bat Kol (sacred Jewish music) and Love Café with IRIS (women’s a cappella).
