Heavenphetamine is a musical project led by Hiroki and Sara, two artists captivated by sound, creating their art across Europe. Their music is a fusion of Hiroki’s intricate synthesizer loops, layered with Sara’s responsive drumming, all intertwined with melodic Japanese lyrics. Drawing inspiration from genres like KrautRock, Experimental, Post Punk, Progressive Rock, Trip Hop, and Acid House, Heavenphetamine crafts a unique and innovative sound that’s entirely their own.
Before 2021, the duo released two EPs heavily influenced by Post Punk. Afterward, Hiroki and Sara relocated to Tbilisi, Georgia, and one of their most unforgettable experiences occurred during a performance in Kyiv, Ukraine, just two months before Russia's full-scale invasion. That moment ignited their deep connection to Ukraine, and following the outbreak of war, the duo embarked on a five-month DIY charity tour across Europe.
During the tour, Heavenphetamine received an enthusiastic invitation from Ukrainian promoters to perform again in wartime Ukraine. Collaborating with Ukrainian musicians, they recorded an album in Kyiv between December 2022 and February 2023, amidst air raids and power outages caused by the war. Following this intense period, they launched an extensive EU tour in the
spring and fall of 2023, playing in cities like Berlin, London, Paris, and Prague, and gaining critical acclaim at festivals such as Tallinn Music Week in Estonia, Brave Factory in Ukraine’s underground scene, and France’s Trans Musicales.
In the spring of 2024, Heavenphetamine returned to their two-piece formation and embarked on a tour across Eastern Europe and the Balkans, with standout performances at Romania’s Transilvania International Film Festival and Ukraine’s largest festival, Atlas Weekend, further cementing their growing reputation. The summer of 2024 marked the release of their new album, The Sun On A Winter Day, distributed digitally by Ukrainian label Kontrabass Promo.
