About this Event
Dario Ré lives off-grid in the mountains above Sandpoint, Idaho. He is the lead singer-songwriter for Heat Speak, a highly collaborative and modular band featuring eclectic instrumentation including: guitars, keyboards, upright bass, violin, mandolin, cello, mandocello, ukulele, accordion, djembe, congas, percussion and drum kit. They write impassioned poetics sung in English and French supported by dynamic musicianship and intricate arrangements to create a unique blend of indie rock, chamber folk and world fusion. Typically performing with 5-8 members, they also tour and perform as a trio and with up to 12 players on stage.
Their latest full-length record, de bouquet ok was the fruit of Lilac City Records granting the band 40-hours of studio time in the Downtown Library’s newly remodeled state-of-the-art recording facilities with Andy Rumsey acting as lead engineer. Ré invited 11 other players to record sessions throughout the week and then spent the remainder of the year arranging and mixing the record with Nashville’s Wilson Harwood of Elevated Music. The album was released January 12, 2024 and featured all 12 musicians live at the Spokane Public Library (Central Branch) in the nxʷyxʷyetkʷ Hall—third floor looking over the falls.
