Hands-on experience where you'll learn how to create your very own Green Curtain using edible climbing plants outside your window!
About this Event

Join us for an exciting hands-on experience (1 hour workshop) where you’ll learn how to create your very own Green Curtain using edible climbing plants such as cucumber and cherry tomatoes. This eco-friendly project helps naturally cool indoor spaces whilst reducing your energy costs, greenhouse gas emissions and providing you with fresh produce right at your fingertips!
Attendees will take home a "Green Curtain Starter Kit" including 1 edible climbing plant*, so you can begin building your curtain at home right away!

* When considering transport to/from the event, please ensure you will be able to bring your 'Green Curtain Starter Kit' home with you. This includes a pot (250mm x 235mm) packed with gravel, soil and a planted tomato/ cucumber plant, along with 2x garden stakes and netting.
Time
Session 1: 9:30AM to 10:30AM
Session 2: 11:00AM to 12:00PM
Session 3: 12:30PM to 1:30PM
This event is offered to Bayside Council residents only.
Registration will require attendees to provide their home address as this information will be used to validate that they are a Bayside resident. Despite the number of attendees attending this workshop, only one "Green Curtain Starter Kit" will be provided per registered Bayside household.

Before registering...

  • Consider which window at home you might like to install a green curtain in front of (it should have space in front of it to place the pots and receive a lot of sun).
  • Measure the length of your window and include this detail in your registration form, this will allow us to customise the net size in advance.
  • Feel free to take a photo of where you would like to install your green curtain and show workshop facilitators on the day to receive more personalised advice on how to install your curtain.
