The Heat Pump Forum & Award 2024 places heat pumps at the forefront of the green revolution, fueling Europe’s journey towards energy security and sustainability under the REPowerEU initiative.
Urgent action calls for an EU Heat Pump Plan to fast-track heat pump deployment, empowering the EU’s independence from fossil gas reliance. This gathering unites top policymakers, industry giants, and influencers to craft this crucial blueprint. Accelerating heat pump adoption isn’t just strategic—it’s the key to unlocking a future of self-sufficiency, resilience, and competitiveness for Europe.
Dedicated to expanding horizons, the Heat Pump Forum fosters dynamic exchanges of visions, knowledge, and expertise, aiming to amplify the role of heat pump technologies within RepowerEU’s framework. Spearheaded by the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA), alongside its members and partners, the event champions the EU Heat Pump Accelerator, poised to revolutionize heat pump adoption continent-wide.
The European Commission’s REPowerEU plan targets a doubling of annual heat pump installations, projecting 20 million additional units by 2026 and 60 million by 2030, significantly surpassing the current count. With nearly 50% of EU energy consumed for heating and cooling, primarily from imported fossil fuels, heat pumps offer a clean, cost-efficient alternative, potentially slashing energy use, emissions, and imports.
Heat pumps, coupled with building renovations, not only enhance energy efficiency but also shield consumers from unpredictable energy costs. Accelerating heat pump uptake not only aligns with REPowerEU’s strategic vision, but also places people at the heart of the energy transition.
The Heat Pump Award
Just like every year, in 2024 we will recognise the most efficient, smart and sustainable Heat Pump projects at the local level in EHPA's Heat Pump Award Ceremony. This year we will award 5 categories:
- Heat Pump City of the Year,
- DecarbIndustry,
- Decarbuilding,
- Lighthouse Heat Pump, and
- People's choice award: the most popular heat pump project.
