About this Event
This Valentine's Day, using found natural materials, magazine cutouts, and tactile craft materials, create your own heartwork- a shrine to/ investigation of the inner workings of your own heart. Artists Darian Poisson and Kit Swackhammer (of Odder Seeds) will be on hand to assist participants in creating a mixed-media collage on live-edge small wood slabs that they can bring home with them.
Additionally, participants are invited to take part in the creation of a communal zine, where each member will take turns sourcing words and images from the provided materials to build upon the prior page for a final work of visual heart poetics. A digital copy of the final zine will be emailed to all contributors.
An alternative to the usual Valentine's fare, this is a great opportunity to come together in warmth, community, and creative play during a gloomy and chilly time of year. All supplies will be provided, but if there's something special to you you'd like to include, please bring it along!
This workshop is part of the Heartwork pop-up in the new CoLodge space above FARSIDE on James. Two flights of stairs are required to reach the workshop room.
We encourage all to also explore the pop-up art shop and gallery happening on the main CoLodge level from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily February 14 through 16.
A limited number of accessible tickets are available- first come, first serve!
