It's always heartbreaking to salvage a home, imagining its history and the people who lived there, but our volunteers rescue what they can to keep those memories alive and pay respect to the house and those who created it. Save CR Heritage made it to the final days of the early-1900s "Queen of Hearts" mansion in Marshalltown, saving Queen Anne windows, arched windows and beveled glass windows; unique ornamental lintels (those wooden "toppers" above windows and doors); an antique medicine cabinet; doorknobs and the heaviest window weights we've ever encountered! Stop by our Heartbreaker Salvage Sale from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, for these items, along with vintage sinks, light fixtures, doors and more. Cash or check preferred. Proceeds benefit the J.E.
