For the past 15 years they have been studying with their teacher Maestro Manuel Rufino in an effort to weave together a global support network & international community that embraces the transcendental path of wisdom, love, truth and knowledge of the eternal soul.
They are the co-founders of the Sacred Arts Research Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides educational programs that support the preservation of arts traditions from around the world. They are active members of the Golden Drum, a cultural community center for consciousness and spiritual discipline located in Brooklyn, New York, and are members of the Dream Seed shamanic sound healing collective. They co-produce an international festival called, The Heart & Mind Festival which brings together wisdom keepers, spiritual elders, scientists, youth leaders and visionary humans from all paths of life. With the blessing of their teacher Maestro Manuel and the elders of the Mayan tradition, Tata Pedro and Nana Marina Cruz, AJ & Shola have the blessing and permission to share cacao with the intention of unifying communities with prayer.

More Information About the Drum-Making Ceremony:
Like the voice, the shamanic drum is one of the world's oldest instruments and it remains incredibly relevant and important. The drum has been used by thousands of ancient indigenous cultures worldwide to heal sickness, connect with the spirit world, pray, bring community together, tell stories, and more. It is incredibly simple yet amazingly diverse in its many expressions. We will be covering traditional uses of the drum and how to work with it in a ceremonial healing context. We also will embark on creating our own animal hide drums by hand in a drum making ceremony.
The creation of the drum is a prayer and a ceremony in itself. We will work with our drums as a visioning meditation for our lives and our paths, so that our thoughts and intentions remain in a high vibration as we create the drums and through that process they become part of the drums. Making your own personal drum is a sacred journey and the power of making something like this with your own hands is incredible, it becomes an extension of your own heart & mind.
