On Thursday September 11th from 10am – 2pm, there will be a free to attend “Heart Health” testing drop-in event at The Turf pub (next to Wrexham FC), LL11 2AH.Attendees will have the chance to speak with NHS professionals about heart failure symptoms and prevention, complete a short questionnaire, receive a blood pressure and heart rhythm check and, if needed a simple finger-prick blood test.
Organised as part of a collaboration between The Pumping Marvellous Foundation (the UK’s leading heart failure charity), NHS Wales (Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board), Roche Diagnostics and Medtronic, the goal of the event is to identify undiagnosed cases of heart failure in the community before more serious complications develop.
Across the UK, over one million people are living with heart failure, with 200,000 new diagnoses each year. An estimated 400,000 people remain undiagnosed
If you are over 40 and would like a free heart check, come along, no appointment is necessary, queues are likely.
