Are you considering how to make your yard healthier for you and the environment? Need some local inspiration to kick-start your project planning?
Join me for a casual stroll near Lakeside Park to see a diverse array of healthy yard features, including rain gardens, infiltration galleries, and rain water harvesting.
Bring ideas, photos, or sketches of your own yard and look for inspiration and practical tips to make your yard more beautiful, healthier for your watershed, and more resilient to climate change.
We’ll also be looking for plant species that add fall interest to your garden. This can be an important season for our fall migrating wildlife, and it is crucial that our yards and natural areas provide a source of food and shelter for them!
This walk will start and end at Lakeside Park’s playground parking area, on Lakeside Drive between Gatewood Road and Blueridge Avenue. We will stroll for approximately 1.2 kilometers, round trip.
This event will follow safety guidelines in response to COVID 19. We will cap this event to 15 people and maintain 6’ distance throughout the walk.
In the event of poor weather, we will reschedule for the following Monday, October 4 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. We will notify you if the event needs to be rescheduled by 4:00 p.m. on the day of the walk.
