Psychology of Winning and Performing Under Pressure

Outline: The psychology underpinning success in different performance environments is very similar. Whether it is in sport, music, the performing arts, medicine, business, emergency services or the military the brain works in a very similar way. As a result, there are key lessons that can be learnt about how to win and succeed when performing, whatever the environment. In this talk Stewart will discuss the psychological factors that are crucial to success, and just as important how these can be trained and developed. He will also consider the secrets of performing under pressure to ensure you can make the most of your talent.
This talk is for anyone with an interest in performance. You might be a sport performer, musician, dancer, or interested in working in medicine, business or the military. Parents of talented children might be interested as well as coaches and teachers.
About the Speaker: Stewart is a HCPC registered sport and exercise psychologist, BPS chartered psychologist, and BASES accredited sport and exercise scientist. He has over 25 years experience working as a sport and performance psychologist across a wide range of sports from grassroots through to elite level. He has also worked with the military, businesses, the emergency services, musicians, and performing artists. He is also a Professor of the Psychology of Human Performance at Health Sciences University with an extensive track record of research that seeks to help enhance performance.
