About this Event
This year’s 16 Days in WA campaign runs from 25 November to 10 December, with the theme ‘Stopping Family and Domestic Violence: Play your part’.
We encourage staff to do just that by joining colleagues for a day dedicated to addressing and combating family and domestic violence (FDV).
Representatives from different organisations will share their insights to help drive change in culture, behaviour and attitudes that lead to violence against women and their children.
These include:
- St John Ambulance's New Alert System
Discover how St John Ambulance is using a newly implemented alert system to enhance responses to family and domestic violence. - WA Police
Learn about the strategies and approaches the Police are using to handle family and domestic violence, and how they are collaborating with health services. - Curtin University
Learn about the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Emergency Department project. Explore knowledge, attitudes and confidence pertaining to FDV identification and management among clinicians. - Sexual Assault Resource Centre
Hear about the pilot program designed to support FDV victim-survivors through improved forensic evidence collection, helping to increase FDV convictions, and receive education on non-fatal strangulation. - NMHS FDV Manager’s Guide
Learn how to use the new managers guide created in partnership with WHSP and NMHS HR to support managers to demonstrate competency in knowledge of workplace support measures in relation to FDV, and to ensure staff feel supported by their colleagues when disclosig FDV.
Attendees will also hear from experts about the latest research on elder abuse and gain insights into how pertetrators view and respond to violence restraining orders.
