Meet Shirley
Shirley Boerssen is an Exercise Therapist with a rich background in Psychology and Personal Training. Shirley specializes in women’s health and pelvic floor rehabilitation, with expertise in somatic movement. She is deeply committed to guiding clients through life’s transitions, from postnatal recovery to the peri-menopausal phase and beyond.
Shirley’s passion for women’s wellness stems from her personal experiences as a mother, navigating recovery from two C-section births, addressing diastasis recti, and embracing the emotional and physical adaptations of parenthood. Currently, she is immersed in her own peri-menopausal journey, which further fuels her dedication to empowering women.
Her holistic approach integrates mind, movement, and soul, meeting each client where they are and guiding them toward becoming strong, confident, and empowered individuals. Shirley is also pursuing her Menopause Doula certification through the Doula School Canada.
In addition to her therapeutic practice, Shirley is a certified Pilates instructor, Yoga and Yin Yoga teacher, Trauma Release Exercise (TRE) practitioner, and Hypopressives Training Method expert. Since June 2023, Shirley has been working at AlignMethod Studio in Kerrisdale, Vancouver, a space dedicated to supporting women at all stages of life. The studio’s mission aligns with Shirley’s passion for helping women recover and thrive postnatally, post-surgery, and beyond, addressing pelvic health challenges such as incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis, and pain.
Shirley is passionate about creating a safe and supportive environment for her clients, educating and empowering them to restore vitality, strength, and confidence.
