About this Event
&Rise is proud to present: Healing through Visual Expression. We are partnered with Megan Holly photography who is a supporter of the &Rise mission of empowering women no matter what adversities they've faced.
Photography is a unique way of expressing what happened in a certain moment A picture captures a moment in time that can not be relived. A picture can have many different meanings to each person because everyone has their own opinion about what a picture means to them. Conveying emotion is a surefire way to create powerful images that connect with you, hence, helping you towards your healing. Feelings will elevate your work and give it more meaning.
There has been a lot of research around art therapy and that it helps children, adolescents, and adults explore their emotions, improve self-esteem, manage addictions, relieve stress, improve symptoms of anxiety and depression, and cope with a physical illness or disability.
Therapeutic photography is very effective for working through trauma, especially trauma experienced in childhood. The expression of complicated emotions through visual art both reveals and heals personal and inter-generational pain throughout the picture taking process in a methodical and decisive way.
Ticket price is $175 and includes:
