Healing the Self, Loving the Self, Forgetting the Self: A Daylong Retreat with Matthew Brensilver - IN PERSONSaturday, June 1 from 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
In this daylong retreat, we will explore how mindfulness supports the healing of the self. Many of the Buddhist teachings help us tend to painful memories, old pains and the habits that compound suffering. As we become more gentle and loving towards experience, the self becomes less and less of a preoccupation. The more completely we accept ourselves, the easier it becomes to forget the self and rest in an awareness unencumbered by self-consciousness. This day will include guided meditations, dharma talks and opportunities for dialogue. All are welcome.
COST: The fee for this daylong is on a sliding scale from $50 to $108. Scholarships are readily available through our online system at rates of $25 or $0. We invite you to consider paying at the highest level you can to make it possible for others to join on scholarship. Thank you for your generosity.
It’s important to note that your registration fee supports the Durango Dharma Center. This daylong is offered on the basis of dana, a practice of mutual generosity that has been alive since the time of the Buddha. ABOUT MATTHEW BRENSILVER: Matthew Brensilver, MSW, PhD, serves on the Guiding Teachers Committee and Board of Directors at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. Before committing to teach meditation full-time, he spent years conducting research at the UCLA Center for Behavioral and Addiction Medicine. He is the co-author of two books about meditation during adolescence and continues to be interested in the unfolding dialogue between Buddhism and science.
