About this Event
We will learn about decorative edibles, propagate roses, talk about the history of soil in Newark, and how to be careful of possible toxic substances in your garden. We will show how to plant decorative edibles safely and sustainably in a raised bed planter and create your own trellises. All Materials will be provided. Participants will be receiving roses to grow in pots. Soil and pots will be provided.
Instructors:
Kelley Forsyth is a Horticulturist for Branch Brook Park Alliance and the proprietor of Kelley Garden Design, where she has designed and built many gardens.
Rutgers professor Yahong Zhang has about 90 varieties in her home garden. She will be showing us how to propagate roses.
Dr. Omanjana Goswani will talk about the history of soil in Newark and how to be careful of possible toxic substances in your urban garden.
