When we experience trauma, our bodies hold onto it. This can lead to pain throughout the body, particularly in the hips, back, and shoulders. This workshop will introduce us to Somatic Yoga, a practice that allows us to meet our bodies with self-awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness. Through slow, gentle movement, mindful attention, and the power of breath, we will enter a safe space to promote healing and wholeness. This 2-hour workshop is for anyone who has experienced physical or emotional trauma. Sadly, that means almost everyone; however, this is especially good for those who are interested in releasing the physical and emotional pain caused by that trauma. While many people work through issues related to their trauma in a therapeutic setting, this complementary workshop will introduce ways of using deliberate physical movements to aid in the release of physical tension and the emotional connection our bodies cling to after traumatic events through the exploration of the mind/body/breath connection.
