Cultivating wellness & community through holistic disciplines, art, movement & music, GetOpen Sessions & Urban Sanctuary join MOJUGBA to present HEAL & RELEASE, DC!

HEAL & RELEASE brings to the people a day of wellness advisers, yoga, visual arts and movement therapies featuring all-ages activities in an incredible outdoor atmosphere with an eclectic blend of music & drums as your soundscape. Prepare for a family day outdoors with positive vibes, positive people, creative and healing energies. You are all invited to picnic, sun, lounge & (especially) DANCE!!

The program is still coming together so follow us and stay tuned. For your participation will be yoga, qigong (tai chi), meditation & reiki sessions & more! Your presence & energy round out the day as music fills the air for a festival that closes with an open air dance party for 'children' of all ages and fitness levels. All are welcome to enjoy our healing village & dance until the sun sets so click the Ticket link to register and though not necessary to join us, consider donating if you are able. HEAL

Nicole Jackson is a Holistic Health Coach, Massage Therapist, and Energy Healer. Her goal is to educate and elevate her clients while helping them discover a higher level of wholeness, happiness and personal well being. Whether its emotional clearing, nutritional coaching, stress relief, or energy balancing, she can help remove blockages that keep her clients' stuck in old, unhealthy patterns; helping them to understand that they are where they are and how they can get to where they want to be.

J Miles is a Yogi, martial artist, body worker, retired break dancer, community activist, and the son of a Baptist minister who has been learning and studying eastern arts and philosophy for nearly two decades for whom movement itself, creativity and exploration of movement through dance has always been a constant source of curiosity and confidence. His journey with dance and martial arts led him to yoga. Books by Muata Ashby, the teachings of Swami Satchidananda and Integral Yoga, along with Ashtanga, Jivamukti and other prominent systems of yoga, has crafted a style tempered by real life and humor, and relies on the importance of breath as a guide and a source of strength.

J Miles' classes aim to create for each person a fluid, sustainable and enjoyable practice, that will hopefully, prove to be beneficial over a lifetime.

Artis Moon Amarche' integrates her role as healer, yogi, artist, musician, and dancer, to combine various traditional contemplative practices, guided by intuition. Artis' process in everything she does is very much influenced by her roots in jazz & improvisation. Artis' healing arts offerings include a variety of meditation classes including Yoga Nidra, basic mindfulness and Meditation 101, sound healing and sound baths.

Artis holds a BFA in Fine Arts from the Corcoran College of Art + Design in DC, + the following certifications - Usui Reiki Master Teacher, Life Coach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, Trauma-Informed Yoga, Childbirth Educator, Diploma of Advanced Training from the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, and Television Producer; training in Yoga Nidra & Somatic Psychology, plus in process with RYT 200 Yoga Teacher Training.

Aphrosoul (Lukumi People; Yoruba Records, MOJÙGBÁ, BKNY/DC) is a musical, cultural, and spiritual polymath. In addition to being a captivating DJ, he is a spiritual conduit, plant- based yogi, Usui/Tibetan Reiki master teacher, and founder of Lukumi People Music & Oracle Bohemian Artifacts. Aphrosoul has been in the music scene for more than half his life. He has worked as a club security doorman, promotor, dancer, and radio personality. His deep-house DJ sets can be best described as “ancient future soul music.” He’s spun alongside a litany of iconic DJs and musicians that include DJ Spinna, Rich Medina, Quentin Harris, Danny Krivit, Tony Humphries, Osunlade, Carlos Mena, Barbara Tucker, Julie Dexter, Donnie, Tamara Wellons, Les Nubians, Amel Larrieux, After 7, Rahsaan Patterson, Wunmi.

His lifelong connection to music transcends the body, mind, and soul. He is also the founder of the long-running sacred dance gathering, MOJÙGBÁ, which began in 2013 and based in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York. Aphrosoul is also a cofounder of two annual festivals — HEAL & RELEASE DC and Solsdance. Both festivals focus on holistic health and wellness via the mediums of art, music and dance. In 2017, Aphrosoul returned to his radio broadcasting roots, which began at KPFT 90.1FM and KTRU 96.1FM between 1999 and 2002. He currently curates a weekly broadcast radio show on WPFW 89.3FM and a bi-weekly internet radio show on Eaton Radio.

Aphrosoul takes people on a journey back to their divine selves through the Yoruba spiritual practice of ancestral reverence and guidance, using uplifting vibrational frequencies to facilitate love and healing through the power of music

Deep Just aka DJ AQuaBeaT is a DJ/Producer and the founder of GetOpen Sessions. He is a veteran of the NYC house music scene with over 25 years behind the turntables and even more on the dance floor. Deep Just is known for his technical approach, thoughtful selection and passionate sets. His productions, like his playing are a soul filled blend of afro inspired rhythms and deep tech beats rooted in musical exploration.

Deep Just has shared billing with some of the most influential house dj's and producers in the business; Boddhi Satva, Dhundee, Op, Jihad Muhamad, ?uestlove, Josh Milan, Julius the Mad Thinker, Fred P (Black Jazz Consortium), Hallex M, Dj Qu, Oscar P, Spider (NYC), E-Man, Jose Marquez, Dj Disciple, Salah Ananse, Hard Hittin' Harry, Master Kev, and Sabo to name a few. He's played in NYC, New Jersey, Washington DC, Omaha, Boston, St. Louis, Denver; Atlanta, Mexico, Costa Rica, Cuba and at such festivals as The Winter Music Conference; Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Atlanta Weekender and Mi Casa Es Su Casa Holiday.
