About this Event
Join us for an afternoon of art and connection as we celebrate the opening of a new exhibition, He Aka, featuring renowned Native Hawaiian artists from the island of Maui Kekai Robinson, Hoaka Delos Reyes, and Kumu Kaponoʻai Molitau. Hosted at Shangri La, He Aka celebrates creative visions devoted to a living continuum of ancestral wisdom.
The event will start with an open museum format where guests will be invited to explore the galleries and view the new exhibition, followed with curated food and refreshments on the Upper Lawn, and conclude with a panel discussion moderated by Kumu Vicky Holt Takamine engaging directly with the artists as they share the stories and practices behind their work.
We invite you to gather in community to experience contemporary Native Hawaiian art interfacing with Shangri La’s historic collection, honoring tradition while embracing innovation.
