About this Event
We are delighted to host our Autumn Conference in Birmingham on 18th October.
We know that for many it will be the first opportunity to network and meet colleagues for some time, and the Conference comes at a crucial time with issues around equality and diversity now part of the national conversation, as well-being at the heart of as the debate around a more inclusive housing sector.
Keynote speakers, and breakout sessions throughout the day will provide reflection and insight into a range of issues in the sector. We will examine the role of Black Lives Matter in highlighting racial injustice, the inequalities put into focus by the Covid-19 pandemic and perspectives on leadership and board representation.
Our exciting breakout sessions will be a mixture of practical workshops to incorporate better practice in organisations, as well as discussion and debate sessions to provoke and stimulate action. We will cover topics such as An EDI Strategy on a Page, Challenging Islamophobia, Services for the LGBT+ Community, creating a Diverse Board, Mentoring for Leadership and Success, and EDI and the Social Housing White Paper.
Talking about the Conference, Chief Executive of HDN, Mushtaq Khan, said: “We have drawn up an exciting programme for this conference that will allow attendees to reflect upon equality, diversity and inclusion in the housing sector. It’s also an opportunity to renew friendships, extend your networks, and explore current and future directions of travel. As you know, the past 18 months or so have been very challenging for everyone. The Covid-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter Movement, have led to seismic changes in society and the way that organisations are run. The speakers in our programme are uniquely placed to debate these and draw out the key themes, trends and best practices for our audience as we know, although some progress has been made, that much remains to be done.”
The agenda can be found below, it includes the speakers, topics, breakout rooms and the time slots.
