Speaker: Jessica Nickila - SURT Program Coordinator/Peer Recovery Specialist

In this critical session, Jessica Nickila will present comprehensive strategies and techniques for responding to substance use crises. Participants will gain insights into the complexities surrounding these emergencies and learn effective de-escalation methods to safely manage and support individuals experiencing a substance use crisis. Covering behavioral cues, communication strategies, and immediate response protocols, this session aims to equip you with the skills needed to handle these difficult situations with confidence and compassion.

Speaker: Michael Furo - HDC Crisis Response Supervisor

Session Overview:

Understanding and respecting cultural diversity plays a pivotal role in crisis response. This session will deep-dive into how health care professionals can offer culturally sensitive care during crises. It will cover the importance of cultural competence, strategies for building trust with clients from various cultural backgrounds, and how to adapt crisis response interventions to be culturally inclusive.
