Hazlehurst Urban Sketching Group
Exciting news from Hazlehurst Studios as we gear up for our latest urban sketching meet up. Join us for a creative journey led by Allison John, our resident artist and urban sketching enthusiast. We are a group of varied experience, the atmosphere is relaxed, and artistic adventures await!
Hazlehurst Studios, we're a not-for-profit art studios based in Runcorn, Cheshire, passionate about fostering a vibrant local creative community.
What is Urban Sketching? Urban Sketchers is a global artistic community that specializes in sketching on location within the cities, towns, and villages they call home or explore while traveling. This creative movement originated on Flickr in 2007, thanks to the efforts of journalist Gabriel Campanario.
It's a fantastic day out, spent with kindred spirits, sketching the beauty of your local surroundings. This is an excellent opportunity, especially if you're a bit apprehensive about sketching in public on your own. Plus, you'll have the chance to connect with fellow locals who share your passion for sketching.
What Should You Bring? Make sure to dress appropriately for the ever-changing British weather! Bring your preferred sketching materials and a lightweight foldable chair. You can also bring along your lunch or visit the local cafe when we stop for lunch.

December - We crossed the water (River Mersey) and visited the Catalyst Museum
January - We took in the wonder of Gaia at Norton Priory
February and March - In February we returned to Hazlehurst Studios and March was a delightful experience at our local Buddhist Temple.
April - April's Urban Sketching session on April the 12th, saw the sketchers heading up to Phoenix Park.
May - Saw the group meeting at The Brindley, with great views of the Bridgewater Canal
