A Crookes Folk Club presentation at The Princess Royal, 43 Slinn Street, Sheffield, S10 1NW.*TICKETING & DOOR POLICY*
Whilst we occasionally run ticketed Friday Night Specials, entry for our regular weekly Thursday club nights is on a first-come-first-served basis and unticketed and we do not take advanced seat bookings.
Entry for regular club nights is free, we pay our guests by way of a *CASH* collection. Whilst we understand that some simply haven't the means to make a contribution and absolutely DO NOT wish to exclude them, we expect those who can to make as generous a donation as they are able in recognition of our guest's work.
*PLEASE CHECK FOR UPDATES BEFORE SETTING OUT*
Life is full of unexpected ups and downs, illness, weather and other unexpected things can spoil the best made plans. We may sometimes have to change our guest at short notice, or even cancel an evening altogether. To avoid disappointment please re-visit the relevant night's event for updates *BEFORE* setting out.
*HAZJAK
Hazjak are Lynne O'Malley and Steve Chapman Smith, both well-known and respected musicians on the Northern acoustic scene.
Together they play an eclectic style of Americana, Roots and Folk music with close harmonies.
Steve – vocals, guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, bass
Lynne – vocals, banjo, guitar, harmonica, whistle, piano
Their live performances are filled with passion and storytelling, but also laughter and fun.
Hazjak have released two albums to date - “Listerville” in Dec 2020 and “The City Sleeps” in Nov 2023.
“Excellent instrumental skills, impressive harmony vocals and heartfelt delivery” - Dave Haslam, R and R magazine, March 2024
“A highly talented duo, excellent songs, superb musicianship and harmonies in abundance” - Tykes Stirrings, 2021
“Voices in sparkling harmony...and electric performance” - Tony Haynes, FAB Folk and beyond, Tempo FM Jan 2023
“Close-harmony folk meets Goth rock blues. Like poles repel, but unlike poles attract. From poles apart this duo have brought together guitar and keyboard to create irresistible and original songs with a magnetic field that will pull in the masses. I feel this is the start of something very big and attractive.” - Tony Haynes-FAB Folk and Blues Radio
Review of Carpark Kisses EP:
“An eclectic mix which gives a sense of the scope of their repertoire… Two voices that work well together and individually…the countrified title track presumably designed to whet the appetite – which it certainly does” - TYKES NEWS Winter 2018 edition
"An enjoyable evening from start to finish. You really take the listener with you" - Topic Folk Club Jan 2020
