“I enjoyed this and . . . on further investigation . . . it’s not good . . . it’s fabulous!” – Brian May, Queen
An American band formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2000. They perform bluegrass cover versions of rock songs and original songs of a mostly satirical or absurdist nature in a self-created musical genre which the band calls "Rockgrass".
The story goes that Barley Scotch (aka John Wheeler) stumbled across a collection of vinyl records by a group he had never heard of called AC/DC . He took the records back to town and played them for his buddies.
The boys set out to record some of these new songs in their own mountain music style, the way the Good Lord intended, and thus was recorded the first Hayseed Dixie album. "A Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC". Much to the surprise of everyone involved, this debut album proceeded to sell more than 200,000 copies in its first year. So, the boys hit the road in the Summer of 2001 to play some live shows, chase some women, and drink some beer and whiskey. And they haven't stopped since.
Hayseed Dixie have released a further 16 studio albums of hillbilly re-workings of rock, pop and metal songs as well as many originals. Accept no imitations
