This fall, in collaboration with Heartland Orchestra, ECC opens the season with Haydn’s dramatic and powerful Lord Nelson Mass (Missa in Angustiis, Mass for troubled times), a masterwork that resonates with the passion and urgency of love in turbulent times. Framed by our season theme, “Sing On,” this stirring piece explores music as both a refuge and a response to the trials of the world. With soaring melodies, bold harmonies, and deep emotional resonance, Haydn’s masterpiece offers a feast for the spirit—nourishing the soul with hope, devotion, and strength through song. This remarkable piece will be presented in concert on Saturday, November 22, 2025, 7:00 p.m., at Southern Hills Christian Church (3207 S Blvd, Edmond, OK 73013). Admission to the concert is free; guests are invited to bring an unwrapped toy to benefit the Red Andrews Christmas Dinner. An Oklahoma City Christmas Day tradition since 1947, the Red Andrews Christmas Dinner provides meals and toys to thousands of people each year. For many years, one of Edmond Community Chorale’s own, the late Barbara Atteberry, graciously gave of her Christmas Day to play the organ at the Red Andrews Christmas Dinner, insisting that she play until the last person was served. In 2014, in Barbara’s memory, ECC began collecting toys each year to benefit Red Andrews Christmas Dinner. Over the years, ECC members and guests have donated over 3,400 toys and books to Red Andrews. So, again this year, in honor of Ms. Atteberry, we are collecting donations to benefit the Red Andrews Christmas Dinner—an organization that she loved.
