About this Event
Calling all bread lovers and home and cottage bakers! The iconic Hayden Flour Mills is excited to host its inaugural Breadfest. The event will be held on Sunday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at neighboring local business Don Guerra’s Barrio Bagel and Slice, at 689 N. Arizona Ave.
“We are harvesters, we are millers and we are bakers at heart. What better way to pay homage to the art of the ancient grain than a festival that features bread?” said Emma Zimmerman, co-owner and co-founder of Hayden Flour Mills with her father Jeff. “Through Breadfest, we want to connect with our bread-loving community as well as local bakers and give them a true small-town festival that is fun for the whole family while also emphasizing the important role ancient grains play in today’s nourishment.”
Breadfest is set to include several local vendors serving up delicious bread-based concoctions, such as Barrio Bread and Sonoran Pasta Co., as well as a sourdough bread contest featuring entries from local home bakers, cottage bakers and judged by professional bread artisans from around the state.
In addition, guests can learn about the Hayden Flour Mills’ passion and purpose, peruse vendors, snack on samples, enjoy live musical entertainment, purchase a variety of bread-related items, and play fun, wholesome games with the family such as bagel ring toss and much more.
