Join us at Hay Parish Hall on Sunday 24th August for a good old Hay-on-Wye Social. A great opportunity for the community to come together for some music, food and good vibes.
The idea is to create a relaxed event that anyone can attend involving food, music, free kids activities and a bottle bar. Entry will be pay what you can and everyone will get some free cake.
We want to bring everyone together and to raise some money for a couple of wonderful charities – Save the Children and Doctors without Borders. We thought Hay Parish Hall would be the perfect spot for a social with communal tables for dining and an area to chat or listen to music.
It would be fantastic if this was a whole community event and we strongly encourage everyone to come along.
• One thing we are going to do is have a cake table - anyone can donate a cake, traybake, plate of cookies, muffins or biscuits. Its a nice easy way for everyone to contribute. There will then be a cake competition and afterwards people will be able to help themselves to a slice afterwards. A real low key relaxed affair - only rule will be no nuts please x
• We will be putting on some hot food - again this will be pay what you can so that we can ensure that everyone is able to come along and whatever your financial situation you will be able to have something to eat, there will be options for those that follow a vegan or gluten free diet.
• Music - Ovi Sima will be playing some chilled out tunes while you grab a bit to eat from our pay what you can menu.
• Bottle Bar – If you would like to contribute to the bar with a donation please do get in touch. The more donations we receive the more money we can put in the charity pot.
• Free Kids activities – some low key entertainment will be available for the kiddies.
All money raised on the day will go to Save the Children and Doctors without Borders. We are feeling a little helpless at the moment with the crazy situations going on around the world and really feel that this event can not only benefit the people of Hay (who doesn't love a social on a Bank Holiday Sunday afternoon?) but can also help raise some money for charity.
Ways you can help:
🍾 Donations for the bottle bar, this includes soft drinks - drop us an email to arrange this.
🍉 Donations to go towards the food - if you have a glut of veggies then let us know and we can work the menu around it.
🍰 Drop a cake off
🤩Volunteer on the day - we need people to help make this happen from people on the door, serving food or someone skilled at face painting!
