Mid-September is the peak of Broad-winged Hawk migration, and a great opportunity to experiences dozens or more of Broad-winged Hawks as they make their way to South America. Whether you're new to birds or have been birdwatching for years, hawk-watching is a fun, leisurely activity and a great way to enjoy Greylock Glen from the comfort of your own lawn chair. Our views of hawks are typically distant, but the sheer number of hawks drifting over the picturesque ridgeline is an incredible phenomenon to see, even from a distance. This program begins with a short indoor presentation from a Mass Audubon naturalist. Afterwards, take a short walk and set up your lawn chair to watch for migrating hawks and stay for as long as you would like. Spotting scopes and binoculars will be available for registrants to borrow.
