Civil Beat is excited to bring you another Hawaii Storytellers on Oahu featuring a cast of kūpuna storytellers.
About this Event

This storytelling event will honor a diverse group of notable kūpuna from the island of Oahu, who will be taking the stage to share their wisdom and memories, so that we can apply the lessons learned to present day. The event will will take place on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Dillingham Theater at Punahou School. The event will be hosted by Civil Beat Editor-at-Large, Naka Nathaniel. Register to attend in-person or receive the recording.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m. where you may register, participate in interactive activities and enjoy complimentary snacks. Pre-show entertainment will begin at 5:45 p.m. The official storyteller program will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m.

If you can't make it live, a free recording will be sent to everyone who registers.

Featured Storytellers:

Cynthia Thielen - Attorney for the Protect Kaho’olawe ‘Ohana during the activist years; represented the Windward District in the House of Representatives 1990-2020; and currently serving on the State Ethics Commission.

Brandy Lee - Iconic showgirl and show producer of The Glade nightclub that reopened in 1963 in Honolulu's Chinatown after a 5-year ban on drag shows in Hawaii.

Neal Milner - Author, and longtime Hawaii political analyst and columnist at Honolulu Civil Beat.

Amy Agbayani- Civil rights advocate and Filipino community leader.

Naka Nathaniel (Host) - Editor-at-Large at Honolulu Civil Beat.
