Join Docomomo-US Northern California for an exclusive afternoon or evening celebrating one of California’s most iconic architectural treasures, the Weston Havens House. Designed in 1941 by Harwell Hamilton Harris for philanthropist John Weston Havens Jr., this masterpiece of California Modernism is perched on Panoramic Hill, offering breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay. The house is renowned as Sky House for its innovative design, including inverted triangular trusses that create a floating effect and expansive glass walls that connect interior spaces with nature.
The Havens House embodies a bold vision of modern architecture, blending redwood and glass into a harmonious retreat reflecting its time's progressive spirit. It was once featured in House Beautiful as “one of the most perfect examples of contemporary American architecture.”
Your participation in this fundraiser will support the preservation of this architectural gem and its continued use as an inspiration for future generations. This house is not open to the public, so don’t miss this rare opportunity to step inside a living piece of history and experience its timeless beauty firsthand. Together, let’s ensure the legacy of the Weston Havens House endures!
Access to the Havens House requires stairs from the street to the lower levels. The bathrooms are not ADA-compliant.
All ticket proceeds go to the Havens House Maintenance Fund.

Getting to Havens House
Visitors to 255 Panoramic Way, the Weston Havens House, should plan ahead due to limited street parking in the area.
Here are some recommended options:
Access via Public Transit and Rideshare
- BART: Take BART to the Downtown Berkeley Station on Shattuck Avenue between Allston Way and Addison Street. From there, use a rideshare service or taxi for the approximately 10-minute drive to Panoramic Way.
Parking Options
- Weekend Campus Parking: Most UC Berkeley campus lots are open to the public on weekends for hourly rates. The closest option is Stadium Garage (2175 Gayley Road), which allows weekend parking all day.
Given the limited parking near Panoramic Way, the above options are strongly recommended.
