Havdalah and a MovieJanuary 24 at 5:30pm
Havdalah marks the end of Shabbat and the start of the new week. Performed on Saturday night after three stars appear, it includes four blessings over wine, spices, and a multi-wick candle, engaging the senses as we say farewell to Shabbat. After the service we will watch an inspirational movie together. During the movie, enjoy a variety of drinks, popcorn, and sweet finger-food desserts. Our movie will be “David One Boy Two Faiths, the Interfaith friendship film.
Set in the vibrant ethnic neighborhoods of South Brooklyn, David is a powerful and heartfelt coming-of-age film about an 11-year-old Muslim boy who is mistaken for Jewish and welcomed into a group of Orthodox Jewish boys. As friendships form, the movie explores identity, belonging, and the beauty of interfaith connection. Starring comedian and actor Maz Jobrani, David is an inspiring and thought-provoking film you won’t want to miss! Contact Jack for more information.
