If you are brave enough to explore the darker side of New Castle Delaware's history, then join the New Castle Historical Society this October for the only ghost tour that brings you inside one of the most haunted mansions of Old New Castle! On your journey, you'll explore New Castle's supernatural side with a tour of the legendary Amstel House - one of New Castle's most haunted houses - where you may meet the "Woman in Blue." You will be also guided through New Castle's darkened streets and alleyways where you will hear macabre tales of ghosts & spectres, Victorian death & funeral customs, and crime & punishment that span the 370-year history of this Delaware River town.Tours are approximately 1 hour, 15 minutes and will depart from the New Castle Visitor Center at the Arsenal (30 Market Street). The majority of the tour is walking outdoors, and tours will continue in light to moderate rain. Please dress appropriately for fall weather and wear comfortable footwear. Feel free to bring a flashlight since parts of the tour areas are dimly lit. Due to its content, this tour is recommended for ages 13 and up.
Tours start at 7:00, 7:30 and 8:30 pm each night with two tour groups starting at each time. To buy tour tickets just choose the date you want, then pick the time, then the tour group (A or B). The tour content is the same for both tour groups. Tickets are $25 for the general public and $22.50 for members of the New Castle Historical Society. All tickets must be purchased in advance.
Group and Corporate Tours (for 10 or more people)
Large groups can request a private tour separate from the scheduled tour times for the general public. Private group tours are available for any date and time subject to availabilty (aside from general public tour times). Private group tours of 10 or more people receive a 10% discount from our regular tour pricing. Advance payment is required.
