Haudenosaunee Astronomy—Filling your Spirit with Stardust and Astronomical Knowledge Special FREE planetarium show presented by Samantha Doxtator (Haudenosaunee, Oneida-Wolf Clan) in the National Grid ExploraDome.
The careful observation of celestial bodies stands as a rich and foundational source for origins of modern astronomy. Samantha shares research that was started by her late sister, Sasha Doxtator on Haudenosaunee perspectives on astronomical connections.
Samantha is a personal development consultant who specializes in teaching life and employability skills that are grounded by traditional values. Her many years of experience and knowledge help build bridges of new understandings. She continues the work and research on Indigenous astronomy by her sister Sasha, who passed away in July 2021. This presentation blends culture and science in an astonishing way and will change the way you look at the stars. The planetarium version of this presentation premiered at the world famous Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City in February 2024 and became the first presentation in history to receive a standing ovation. This presentation has been referred to as medicine by many communities across Turtle Island, which aligns with Samantha's intentions to heal Indigenous oppression by nurturing Indigenous brilliance.
