Visit the beautiful new trails in Hatta being on the beginner Trail (Gazelle) or on the intermediate (Hills & Peaks) . Visit the gazelles and oryx while you listen to birds and discover the mountains and foothills in the Hajjar mountains. Beginner group will be doing a shorter route, the intermediate will be a bit longer and committing.
This hike will take you through the newly designed trails in Hatta which wind around the lake, close to the border with Oman, and up around some hills through the mountains reaching a peak.
On the intermediate trail, we will go through the switchbacks, over the ridge and back down the other side for a slow ascent and scree filled descent along with some scrambling on the unfinished trails!
The intermediate trek can be considered as a qualifier / a step up to the challenge level treks. As we walk through the beginner’s trail, we will divide into groups. Those who choose to do the Hills & Peaks trek, can continue to the harder sections in this intermediate’s trail, providing they have the correct gear required. Those that are happy to stay on the beginner trail will remain with the other guide and skip the more challenging section.
This trail is classified as intermediate due to the rocky steep and exposed scree slopes we have to climb up.
If you don’t have hiking boots, you will be moved to the beginner group.
What fitness level is required to enjoy this trek?
Any fitness level will enjoy the beginner hike as we can adjust the pace and the distance. This is strongly recommended as a First Hike Experience.
A good fitness level will help you enjoy the intermediate hike and get qualified for the challenge hikes.
What’s the trail like:
The trail is mostly well defined. It is a mix of the hiking, biking & unfinished trails. It takes us through the wadis and hills which some may have no trails at all.
What is the scenery like?
You will see a wide variety of small hills tucked behind bigger mountains, lots of trees, bushes, goats, donkeys, gazelles, oryx, lakes, and a dam that usually has a lot of bird life in it even if there is not much water.
Three sections on both routes:
Pass by the dam and the birds and tall grasses
Loop around the smaller hills
Drop by the ancient village and the mountain ridge
What is special about this hike?
This hike is a favorite for kids and beginners who feel that it gives them a chance to experience hiking and the mountains without worrying about their footing or their fitness.
It is also a great workout and training for bigger mountains as those on the intermediate trail will climb around 500 m on the switchbacks to reach the top.
Everyone loves the walk along the ridge of the foothills and the unobstructed view of the Hatta Mountain Range. The Hatta mountains are a unique part of the UAE, very different from other mountains.
How long is the hike?
The beginner trail will take between 2.5 - 3 hours, around 7 KM
The intermediate trail can take 3.5 hours, around 9 - 10 km
How far from Dubai:
1.5 hours driving from Dubai
Do you need an off road car to reach?
There is a parking lot just off the main highway, no off road car is required.
How to reach the meeting point:
We will send you the meeting location pin and all other useful info in the Google calendar invitation you receive once you book and pay in full. You can then join the whatsapp group and get updates on the morning of arrival to confirm.
What if I have to cancel? Can I get a refund?
If you cannot attend the hike for any reason, you MUST inform us within 24 hours of the hike starting time if you would like to be credited for future hike. You are not entitled to a refund, but you can rebook your hike for another date anytime within the same season.
Anything less than 24 hours is considered a ‘no show’ and will not be refunded OR credited. Just as it would if you were to go to a concert, a movie, or any other ticketed event.

Which trek should I sign up for?
Sign up for Beginner if you are looking for a new experience, a gentle paced walk, and a steady climb. This is a great trek to test yourself walking on the rocky trails to see if you are ready for the next level.
If you have hiking boots, proper hiking backpack and you are fit enough to commit to the longer route, you can join the Full Loop Group. If you do not meet the requirements on the morning of the trek you will be asked to join the beginner group.
