"Hats Off To Will" is an annual event of the Indian Women's Pocahontas Club. Will Rogers was an honorary member of the club. Holding a birthday celebration at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum began in 1938. The Indian Women's Pocahontas Club members gather in the Rotunda at 10 AM placing some fall foliage at the base of the Will Rogers' statue. Then, the women will make their way led by the Cherokee Nation Veterans' Color Guard to the tomb for the tradition of placing a wreath, followed by the Lord's prayer in sign language. At 11 AM everyone will return to the auditorium for a program which includes remarks from Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin, Jr., remarks from Deputy Speaker and District 14 Tribal Councilor Kevin Easley, Jr., and entertainment with fabulous fiddle music. In honor of Betty Rogers, a Hat Contest will take place for men, women and youth. decorate a hat that represents Will Rogers heritage and may the best hat win in each division. Following the program, a free meal which was Will Rogers favorite beans, cornbread and cobbler. This event is sponsored by Cherokee Nation.
