About this Event
Formed in 2009, Hatful of Rain have attracted an affectionate following with their fusion of folk and Americana sounds. Known for their emotive storytelling, warm performances and great harmonies – not to mention their own unique genre – “melonjolly” (cheerful tunes with miserable lyrical content), the band has been praised for their ability to blend traditional forms of old time and bluegrass music to their own ends. Their previous albums “Way Up on the Hill”, “The Morning Key” and “Songs of the Lost and Found” garnered critical acclaim, sessions with Bob Harris and many plays by Mike Harding and Mark Ratcliffe on the Radio 2 Folk Shows.
For this Worthing , the band play a two part set – the first playing acoustic instruments whilst weaving around a single microphone and the second a rockier proposition with Scott and Max switching to drums and twangy electric guitar respectively.
The show will begin with a set by Hatful vocalist Chloe Overton with banjo player and singer Laura Hockenhull. Ticket holders must get in place to watch this stunning set. Laura will be joining Hatful of Rain later in the evening.
