Embark on a family friendly unforgettable journey through the heart of West Tennessee's pristine wilderness with the Hatchie River Conservancy's 3rd Saturday paddle on the Hatchie River with Blues City Kayaks. As the only unchannelized river in the region, the Hatchie River holds a special place in the landscape, offering a rare glimpse into nature's untouched splendor.
Your adventure begins as you set out on a leisurely paddle along the tranquil waters of the Hatchie at Highway 76 near Brownsville, TN. Surrounded by hidden cypress tree swamps and serene greenery, you'll feel a sense of awe and wonder at every turn. Keep your eyes peeled for sightings of majestic great blue herons, elusive green herons, graceful white egrets, and if luck is on our side, the occasional bald eagle soaring overhead.
Led by our knowledgeable volunteer tour guides and American Canoe Assocition (ACA) Tennessee State Director ANDe Demetriou, you'll delve into the rich history and ecological significance of the Hatchie River. Through interactive and engaging narratives, you'll gain a deeper understanding of how this remarkable waterway has remained untouched by human intervention, preserving its natural beauty for generations to come. The Executive Director for the Hatchie River Conservancy, Bob Ford, and members of the board of directors will be on hand for a meet-and-greet during this tour.
As you navigate the slow current of the river, take advantage of opportunities to park your kayak on sandbars and rest, allowing you to soak in the tranquil ambiance of your surroundings. Safety is paramount on our tour, and guests are provided with life jackets to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience on the water.
Close to 11 miles, this tour is designed to immerse you in the essence of the Historic Hatchie River. From the quiet serenity of the water to the captivating beauty of its untouched landscape, every moment on the Hatchie is an opportunity to reconnect with nature and appreciate its timeless allure.
Join the Hatchie River Conservancy and Blues City Kayaks to experience the wonder of this hidden gem for yourself. Reserve your spot today and prepare to be awestruck by the untouched beauty of the Hatchie River!
This tour is a fundraiser for the Hatchie River Conservancy. By participating in this tour you will be supporting the vision of the Hatchie River Conservancy as well as ensuring future tours on other sections of the Hatchie River are available for all to enjoy!
