Many people are unprepared for their last chapters and the stress that this can cause for them and those left behind.
This meeting is for people who want to be more informed and to be given a nudge to get organised - this is an opportunity to talk about the inevitability of your death without getting tangled in other people's emotions. You will get ideas about how to get your affairs in order, refresh your instructions, and initiate conversations with others to establish shared understandings.
It will be led by Felicity Harvest who is a practicing Humanist celebrant and has been the regional organiser for Humanists UK celebrants and a member of the board which has oversight of the Humanists UK Ceremonies staff. She is a trainer of other humanist celebrants, a member of the East Sussex SACRE, and a school speaker. Prior to her career with Humanists, she was Regional Executive Director for the Arts Council in the South East.
Her discussion is based on a course that she runs over 4 sessions and goes into much more detail than we will be able to tackle in just a couple of hours. But it’s a start!
It will break into 4 sections
* The humanist approach to life and death, considering your life and legacy and recognising its themes and sequence.
* A consideration of what you might like put in place to safeguard your interests and preferences should you have a change of fortune.
* Identifying what could do with tidying up, or being explained, and how to make it easier for others when you are no longer here.
* Finally talking about options for funerals and final ceremonies and how choices might be made.
==========================================
